VitalCog Training: Suicide Prevention in the Workplace
VitalCog, previously called Working Minds, is a national best practice program that aims to eliminate the stigma around seeking help for mental health conditions and to create an environment where people pay closer attention to the wellbeing of their coworkers.
Why VitalCog:
- Depression is estimated to cause 200 million lost workdays each year at a cost to employers of $17 to $44 billion
- In a 3-month period, patients with depression miss an average of 4.8 workdays and suffer 11.5 days of reduced productivity
- Deaths by suicide cost the US $44 billion annually
- 70% of those who die by suicide are working age (CDC)
The VitalCog Training educates participants about mental health and suicide concerns in the workplace. It focuses on education and skills that give participants tools to identify people at risk and respond to a crisis.
